My mom was finally able to visit us! I had originally booked her ticket for Morgan's 3rd birthday so she could be here for that since she hasn't been able to be around for any of her birthdays but we got some unfortunate news a week before she was suppose to fly out. She was hospitalized, what started out as right sided pain and throwing up, turned into her having a CAT scan and finding that she needed her gallbladder out but she also had a very large tumor on her ovaries. Everything is fine for now as far as the results go! But there was no way she was going to be able to travel so I called Delta and they told me I could change the dates for up to $180.00....after some crying to the agent, begging and pleading, they agreed to waive the fee! So when she was up and feeling better (mind you she had to have a total hysterectomy, gallbladder and appendix removed) I re booked the ticket and this time I booked it for longer than before (she was working at the time and I didn't want her to take too much time off of work) So we had grandma here March 15th-25th!
I have to say it was so nice to not only have my mom around but just the extra set of hands. In fact at times I felt bored because so much was being taken care of by her that I didn't have to do it, like emptying the dishwasher, folding clothes, feeding babies...etc. I was even able to start and finish a book in 2 days!!! I knew though that it was going to be short lived and really hated to see her go!
We didn't get to do much as the weather was not cooperating with us but we still did a few fun things. We got to take Morgan to Pojos to play games and then got ice cream afterwards. Tyson and I got a night out with some friends (which we haven't had a night out for over 3 months!) and the best part was me just being able to have a conversation everyday with an adult!
We are hoping that she and my dad will be able to fly out for the twins 1st birthday and it will be summer so we will get to do a lot more stuff with the kids! I am working on trying to get them to move out here, but it doesn't seem that is going to happen anytime soon as my mom still has my grandpa to take care of and he is in a nursing home with Alzheimer's.
All in all it was a fun time and went by way to fast! For those of you who have family close by don't take it for granted, as we have limited family here and are pretty much on our own all the time!!
